This is gold for beginners. Keep it simple: hit your macros, eat whole food, train hard, recover. Too many overthink and end up spinning their wheels for years.

I’d also add: stop copying pro bodybuilders' diets off YouTube. What works for a 260lb IFBB pro on gear won’t work for an 180lb newbie. Stick to basics like this post says.

Cheat meals keep me from falling off the deep end. I eat clean all week, then Saturday night I have what I want to help mentally and keep me on track long-term.

Agree on tracking. I thought I was eating “a lot,” but when I logged it, I was under 2,000 Cals. No wonder I wasn’t gaining. MyFitnessPal was a game changer for me.

Good post. So many new guys think fat burners and BCAAs will fix everything. Nah bro fix your food, your sleep and train hard. Then maybe think about a whey shake.

Carbs are literally fuel. I dropped them once thinking it’d help cut fat. Lost strength fast, workouts were garbage. Now I just time them right pre/post workout and I’m good.

Cutting calories too fast is a killer. Did that before my first show look flat, weak, and felt like trash. Slow and steady is the move, especially if you want to keep your size.

Facts. I learned the hard way about protein. I hit the gym 6x a week but barely eat 100g a day. Gains were non-existent. Bumped it up, I started tracking night and day differences.

A lot of new guys mess up their diet without realizing it. Biggest mistake? Not eating enough protein. If you’re lifting, you need around 1g per pound of bodyweight to build and recover. Another one cuts calories too fast. That’ll kill your energy and muscle. Start slowly and stay consistent.
Also, carbs aren’t the enemy. You need them for fuel, especially around training. Track your food don’t just “eat clean” and guess. You’d be surprised how off you might be. And don’t go too strict. A cheat meal once a week helps you to keep you sane.
Supplements won’t fix a bad diet. Focus on real food, train hard and keep things simple. That’s how you grow.
