Honestly, patience. I used to get frustrated if my numbers didn’t go up every week, but strength doesn’t always move in a straight line. Some weeks I add weight, some weeks I repeat the same load, and occasionally I have a bad session. I’m looking at the trend over several months now instead of judging myself based on one workout. 📈💪

Protein and overall calories have been huge for me. I was training hard while accidentally eating too little, so my strength basically stalled. Once I started fueling properly, the difference was pretty obvious.

That’s something I’m trying to learn too. I used to think a workout only counted if I left completely wrecked. Now I’d rather finish with solid reps and still have enough recovery to perform well next session.

I stopped testing my max every few weeks. Now I spend most of my time doing quality working sets and only test when I’ve built up enough to make it worthwhile. My strength feels much more stable now.

Getting stronger at the smaller movements has helped my compounds too. Bringing up my triceps and upper back made a noticeable difference in my bench.

I’ve been focusing on recovery more than I used to. I’m not trying to destroy myself every workout anymore, and weirdly enough, I’m getting stronger faster because I’m actually fresh enough to perform when it matters.

Creatine, food, sleep, and consistency. Nothing exciting, but the basics are undefeated. 💪

Progressive overload, but I’m not forcing it every session. Sometimes I add a rep, sometimes I add 5 pounds, and sometimes I just make the same weight look cleaner. That mindset has taken a lot of pressure off my training.

I finally stopped program hopping. 😂 I stayed with one solid routine long enough to actually see what was working, and my bench has gone up steadily since then.

For me it’s been slowing down my reps and fixing my technique. I was adding weight while my form was getting worse, which looked like progress on paper but wasn’t really helping me build strength.
