I’m all for it. Train for strength, build some muscle, eat enough to recover, and let the physique changes come with it. The best part is realizing your goal doesn’t have to be “smaller”—it can simply be stronger. 🔥

The gym floor definitely feels different now. Seeing women confidently grab the heavy dumbbells, use the racks, and train close to failure without worrying about looking “too muscular” is honestly pretty motivating. 👏

I think women are also realizing that muscle makes the “toned” look they originally wanted. You can’t really build that athletic, defined look without having some muscle underneath, so lifting heavy and eating enough protein makes way more sense than endlessly doing light weights and high-rep workouts.

The confidence change is huge too. Once you start seeing your numbers go up on squats, deadlifts, rows, or presses, you realize your body is capable of way more than you thought.

I’d take a strength PR over a lower scale number any day. 💯

Same here. I think “toning” was always kind of a vague way of saying “I want to lose some fat and build some muscle.” Now people seem much more comfortable actually saying they want to gain muscle and get stronger, which makes training goals a lot easier to understand.

I’m seeing it with beginners too, which is probably the biggest change. Women who used to tell me they only wanted to “tone up” are now asking about progressive overload, protein intake, hypertrophy, and how to structure their sets. That’s a pretty big mindset shift compared with a few years ago. 🏋️‍♀️

I started lifting seriously because I wanted better definition, but eventually I got hooked on getting stronger. Hitting a new PR or adding another rep to a set feels way more rewarding than simply watching the scale move.

Strength goals are way more motivating for me.

For sure, and I think social media has helped normalize women actually wanting to build muscle. The whole “I don’t want to get bulky” fear seems way less common now, and more women understand that getting noticeably muscular takes years of consistent lifting, nutrition, and recovery. 🔥
