The best prep is the one that gets you stage-ready without wrecking your health or throwing away hard-earned muscle. If you're already lean, 12 weeks might work; if you're starting further out, give yourself more runway. Plan the process instead of trying to beat the clock. πŸ’―

I'm all for starting early. Less panic, fewer extreme cardio sessions, and more time to dial in posing. That's a win in my book. πŸ†

Longer prep gives you breathing room, but it still needs structure. Too much time in a calorie deficit can wear you down too, so I'd plan around realistic progress and recovery instead of assuming longer always means better. πŸ”₯

My biggest focus would be muscle retention. I'd rather lose fat at a manageable pace, keep my compound lifts as strong as possible, and monitor my physique instead of making drastic changes just because show day is getting closer. Looking depleted and exhausted isn't the goal.

Twelve weeks isn't automatically bad, but it isn't a magic timeline either.

I'm team longer prep all day. Better to make gradual changes and keep your workouts productive than chase a scale number every week. πŸ“ˆ

Facts! The calendar shouldn't dictate how aggressively you diet. Your starting condition, progress, and recovery should guide the plan, ideally with an experienced prep coach involved. πŸ’ͺ

People underestimate how much fatigue builds up during prep. A longer timeline doesn't mean dieting forever, but it can give you more flexibility when weight loss stalls or training performance starts slipping. I'd rather arrive ready than spend the final weeks desperately trying to catch up.

Depends on the starting point, bro. Someone who's already close to stage shape has a completely different job than someone carrying a lot more body fat.

I'd go with 20 weeks if I had the choice. You can make smaller adjustments instead of constantly dropping food or adding more cardio every time progress slows down. That seems much easier to manage alongside heavy lifting, posing practice, and normal life.
