Try the couch stretch. Back knee flush against a wall. Squeeze the glute hard.

Exactly. It doesn't actually physically elongate fascia, but it reduces tone.

Goals that aren't about looks. Performance goals - a pull-up, a bodyweight bench, a 5k time - give you a reason to train that doesn't evaporate when you're not feeling lean. The mirror is a fickle motivator.
