So the verdict is basically: cheap monohydrate, 5g daily, skip loading, take it whenever, don't cycle. Anything else is a tax on not reading the research.

Every brand is pushing creatine HCL, 'micronized', buffered, ethyl ester, whatever. They cost two or three times more than plain monohydrate. Is any of it actually worth it or is it marketing?

What's your weekly set count on quads now vs before? People jump to 'more volume' but never count. If you went from like 10 hard sets to 22 overnight that's a big swing and the soreness will catch up.

Creatine all the way! I use the plain monohydrate version—it’s cheap and effective. I’d recommend pairing it with a good fish oil supplement for joint support, especially if you’re lifting heavy.
