Tight lats can also block overhead reach. Roll your lats deeply out.

Never roll the IT band. It is too thick and rolling just inflames the bursa below.

If it's an actual muscle strain, some passive rest the first 24 hours can protect it from worsening though.

Barbell rows done heavy and strict. If your upper back is loose, the bar drifts away from your body and you fail mid-rep.
