I’m a night lifter. Big carb dinner post-workout doubles as recovery + sleep aid. Works great.

Do you guys think intra-workout carbs (like Gatorade) are worth it?

I use dextrose during 2hr workouts. Keeps energy steady. For shorter sessions, not needed.

I sip coconut water during. Light carbs + electrolytes.

I don’t bother intra unless it’s endurance. Lifting under 90 min doesn’t need it

I’ve seen studies showing “carb timing is overblown” unless you train twice a day. Thoughts?

True. If you only train once/day, daily carb total is more important. Timing is a cherry on top.

But for athletes training 2x/day, timing is critical. Glycogen must be replenished fast.

So timing = advanced strategy. Beginners just need enough carbs overall.

I also think carb type matters. Complex carbs before, simpler carbs after.
