Strength training doesn't suddenly make you look huge. Building a significant amount of muscle takes years of consistent training, nutrition, and recovery. For most women, lifting can help create a stronger, more athletic look while still keeping the proportions and shape they personally prefer.
I like focusing on progressive overload, glute and lower-body development, good upper-body training, and overall body composition instead of chasing the scale. You can also adjust your training and nutrition depending on whether your priority is gaining muscle, maintaining your weight, or leaning out.
Curious what everyone else's experience has been—did you ever avoid lifting because you were worried about getting “too muscular”?
