🥗 What’s One Nutrition Rule You Stopped Following After Getting More Experienced?

Post by Belle%24 »

When I first started lifting, I thought getting results meant following a long list of strict nutrition rules. No carbs at night, no eating out, perfect macros every day, no “junk food,” and eating every few hours. 😅
After getting more experienced, I’ve realized that sustainable nutrition is much more about consistency, adequate protein, appropriate calories, food quality, and flexibility. You don’t have to eat perfectly to make progress. 💪
What’s one nutrition rule you used to follow that you eventually realized wasn’t necessary?

I stopped worrying about eating every 2–3 hours. I used to think I was going to lose muscle if I went too long without food, but now I just make sure my overall protein and calories are on point.

“Never eat fast food.” I still eat pretty clean most of the week, but I’m not scared of grabbing Chipotle or a burger when I’m out with friends. 🍔

Same! I used to feel like one restaurant meal could ruin my entire week. Now I just enjoy it, get back to my normal meals, and keep moving. Much less stressful. 🙌

I used to avoid eating before bed because I thought late-night food automatically turned into fat. Now I’ll have Greek yogurt, fruit, or whatever fits my calories before going to sleep. Honestly, worrying about the clock was way more stressful than the food itself. 😅

For me it was cutting out fats. I was terrified of anything with too much fat, so I basically lived on chicken breast, rice, and vegetables. Now I regularly eat eggs, avocado, olive oil, salmon, and nuts. My diet feels way more satisfying now. 🥑

I stopped thinking that “clean eating” means eating the same five foods every day. Most of my meals are still built around whole foods, but I leave room for stuff I actually enjoy. That flexibility is probably the biggest reason I’ve been able to stay consistent.

I quit weighing every single thing I eat when I’m not actively cutting. During a serious cut, tracking helps me stay accountable, but when I’m maintaining or slowly gaining, I don’t need to know whether my chicken weighed exactly 6.2 ounces. 😂
