Hello from Whitney — getting back into training
Posted: Mon Nov 02, 2026 8:07 am
Hi everyone,
I’m Whitney, 33, and I’ve just joined the forum. I’ve been lifting on and off for a few years, but I’ve had a long stretch away from the gym and I’m now getting back into it properly. In the past I mostly followed a fairly simple upper/lower split, focusing on the main compound lifts and trying not to overcomplicate things. I’m currently rebuilding my routine and aiming for three to four sessions a week, with a mix of strength work and a bit of conditioning.
My main goals at the moment are to get consistent again, build back some muscle, and improve my overall strength without rushing things. I’m also trying to tighten up my nutrition, mainly by keeping an eye on protein and portion sizes rather than following any strict diet. I’ve learned that I do better with simple habits than with complicated plans.
I joined because I like reading training logs and hearing what has actually worked for other people. I’m not here to promote anything — just to learn, ask a few questions, and maybe share my own progress along the way. I’m happy to chip in where I can, especially on basic programming and staying consistent.
Looking forward to reading the forum and getting to know some of you.
Cheers,
Whitney
