The Role of Warm-Ups in Strength Training

Quick question for you guys how serious do you take your warm-ups?
I’ve seen people go straight into heavy sets with zero prep. Personally, a few lights sets and some mobility work help me feel way better under the bar.
Do you warm up properly before lifting?
What’s your go-to routine before big lifts like squats or bench?

Always. 5–10 min on the bike, then ramp-up sets before squats. Keeps my knees happy.

No warm-up = injury waiting to happen. I do band work and hip openers before legs.

3 light sets before anything heavy. I treat warm-up sets like real sets focused.

Dynamic stretching, shoulder circles and light dumbbells before pressing. It makes a huge difference.

Foam roll, activation drills, then 2–3 ramp-up sets. I’ve pulled stuff going in cold before. Never again.

Jump rope for 2 mins + mobility for hips and ankles before leg day. Feels smoother.

Glute bridges, band walks and light squats before loading the bar. Keeps me injury-free.

Rower warm-up + shoulder band work before upper body. It only takes 10 mins.

I used to skip warm-ups… until I tweaked my lower back. Now I never lift without prepping.
