Beating Knee Pain on Leg Day

Every time I squat heavy my knees start screaming at me. Knee sleeves give a bit of relief, but I don’t just want a quick band-aid. What actually works long term to keep the knees healthy and pain-free?

Bro, check your squat form first. A small tweak like sitting back more or keeping knees out can save those joints big time.

I had the same issue. Adding hip and ankle mobility drills before leg day cut my knee pain in half. Warm joints = happy joints.

Form might be part of it; I’ll get someone to film me next session. Mobility is something I’ve been slacking on too.

Strengthen your hamstrings and glutes, bro. Everyone goes quad-heavy and forgets the backside. Balanced legs protect the knees.

Don’t ego load the bar. Dropping 20–30 lbs. and doing controlled reps saved my knees when I was chasing PRs too hard.

Try elevating your heels on small plates or lifters. Help with depth and keep stress off the knees if your ankles are tight.

Good call. I’ve just been in flat shoes, might look-into lifters. Anything that makes squats smoother would help.

Single-leg work, bro. Bulgarian split squats, lunges, step-ups. Builds stability and takes pressure off the knees on heavy days.

I swear by sled pushes and reverse sled drags. Burns like hell but strengthens the knees without beating them up.
