Loving all the advice here! I’m sticking with my upper/lower split for now, but I’m tempted to try PPL again. Great insights, everyone!

Absolutely! And don’t be afraid to switch things up if something isn’t working. Fitness is about finding what works for you.

Agreed, @EthanBrown. And I’d add that beginners should pay attention to recovery. Don’t jump into a 6-day split thinking you’ll grow faster. Rest is just as important as training!

For beginners, I’d say start with full-body workouts 3 times a week. Focus on mastering the big lifts—squats, deadlifts, bench, rows, and overhead press. Once you’ve built a foundation, you can experiment with splits like PPL or upper/lower.

That’s a smart way to structure it, @SteelSpartan. I think a lot of people underestimate how important recovery is. Any advice for beginners trying to figure out the best split for them?

I’ll throw my hat in for PPL as the most effective, but I’m careful about recovery. I alternate between heavy and light days to avoid overtraining. For example, one push day might focus on heavy bench press, and the next is more hypertrophy-based with lighter weights.

I think adjusting volume is so important, @robertjohn. I injured my shoulder last year, and I had to switch to a lower-volume upper/lower split to recover. It’s been a game-changer for me. I used to think more was always better, but now I know that quality beats quantity.

I’ve tried everything from PPL to bro splits, but the upper/lower split seems to work best for me. It’s easier to recover, and I’ve noticed better strength gains. I also adjust volume based on how I’m feeling—less sets if I’m feeling worn out.

I usually do compound lifts to hit multiple muscle groups—like squats, deadlifts, bench press, and rows. Then I’ll throw in some accessory work like bicep curls or lateral raises. It keeps things efficient but effective.

I love full-body workouts too, @MasonTaylor. They’re perfect for when I can only get to the gym 3–4 times a week. What’s your typical routine for a full-body day?
