Tracking my lifts has made a huge difference. I used to walk into the gym and just pick whatever weight felt good that day. Now I know exactly what I did last week, so I have a target to beat.

Honestly, the most overhyped supplement is whatever the fitness industry is calling the “next big thing” this month. The basics have worked for years—I'd rather be boring and consistent than spend $60 on every new tub that hits the shelves.

Nutrition made a big difference for me too. I stopped doing aggressive diets every few months and started eating enough protein while keeping my calories appropriate for my goal. My training improved, and I felt way better.

The biggest mistake I made was thinking protein alone would build muscle. I was eating tons of chicken and shakes but barely eating enough overall, and my workouts started feeling terrible. Once I brought my calories and carbs up, my strength improved and I finally started gaining again.

Recovery has honestly been the missing piece for me. I used to think more workouts automatically meant more progress, so I was constantly tired and my lifts were stuck. I’ve had a similar experience with progressive overload. I stopped trying to add weight every single workout and started focusing more on small improvements—extra reps, cleaner form, or a little more weight when I was ready. It’s been much more sustainable.
