Same here—the difference seems way more noticeable on those sweaty sessions than on a quick workout. I’m curious whether other lifters actually use them every day or just keep them around for tougher training days.

I mainly use them for cardio, long lifting sessions, and summer workouts. For a normal 45-minute gym session, I’m usually good with water.

I used to drink electrolyte mixes constantly because everyone at my gym was doing it, but now I’m a little more selective. If I’ve barely broken a sweat, I don’t really see the point. When I’m doing a hard session, getting a lot of steps, or training in a hot environment, that’s when I actually reach for them. 👌

They’ve become part of my routine, but mostly because they help me stay consistent with hydration. I’ll have one around training and regular water the rest of the day. I’ve also realized that not every electrolyte product is the same—some are basically flavored drinks with a tiny electrolyte dose, so I actually check the label now instead of just grabbing whatever looks popular.

That’s a good point about checking the label. I’ve noticed some mixes have a ton of flavoring and sweetener but surprisingly little actual electrolyte content. Do you guys look for a specific sodium/potassium/magnesium amount, or do you mostly judge it by how you feel during training?

I’m team water most of the time. 😂 Electrolytes come out when I’m sweating heavily or doing a long session.

I think they’re useful, but context matters. If you’re training hard, sweating heavily, doing long cardio sessions, or spending time in the heat, electrolytes can be a practical addition. But I don’t think you need to force them just because they’re popular in the fitness world right now. I’d rather look at my hydration, diet, sweat level, and training duration first, then decide whether I actually need them. 💪
