Testosterone in Women: What’s Helpful and What’s Harmful

Post by Riley!11 »

Some women in bodybuilding use testosterone to get stronger, build muscle and recover faster. But it’s important to know both the good and the bad sides.
✅ Good Effects:
• More muscle growth
• Better strength and power
• Faster recovery after workouts
• Higher energy and sex drive
• Stronger bones
⚠️ Bad Effects:
• Deep voice (usually permanent)
• More facial or body hair
• Acne or oily skin
• Irregular or no periods
• Mood swings or anger
• Clitoral growth (can be permanent)
👍 Be Smart:
If you’re thinking about using testosterone:
• Talk to a doctor who understands fitness or hormones use
• Start with a low dose and check your blood regularly
• Know the rules if you compete testosterone may be banned
It can help—but it can also hurt if not used carefully. Know the risks, listen to your body, and stay safe.

For sure. The voice got a bit deeper (kind of permanent) and I broke out in acne. Also had to deal with mood swings. Worth it, but not all sunshine.

Anyone deal with periods messing up or extra hair? That’s what scares me.

Hmm. Gains + energy are nice, but permanent stuff like deep voice and hair spooks me. How do you stay safe?

Smart move I always talk to a doctor before, start with a low dose and check blood every few months. And if you're competing, T is probably banned so be aware!

Sounds fair. Good gains but big trade-offs. Thanks for the heads-up, everyone.
