First Time Lifting Heavy – Where to Start?

Post by Renee213 »

I’ve been training casually for a while, but now I want to start going heavy on squats, bench, and deadlifts. Any tips for women starting out with heavy compound lifts?

Form is queen, girl. Don’t load up until your squat depth and deadlift setup are flawless. A clean rep beats a shaky heavy one every time.

Yeah, I’ve been worried about form. I might film myself to check angles.

Good idea! Recording yourself helps so much. I thought my back was flat on deads until I saw the video… it wasn’t 😅.

Start with the basic flat shoes, a lifting belt when you go heavier, and keep patience. Gains will come.

I only have running shoes now. Guess I need to grab flat trainers?

Yes! Running shoes throw off balance. Converse, Vans, or barefoot shoes work way better for squats and deads.

Don’t fear starting light. Even just the empty bar builds confidence. We’ve all been there.

Haha true, I feel awkward sometimes with just the bar, but I’ll own it.

Own it! Everyone starts there. I benched the bar for weeks before I even added plates. Now it’s my warmup.
