Warm-Ups – Are You Actually Doing Them Right?

Post by Alex_22 »

Be honest… who spends 10+ mins warming up? Or are you like me, swinging my arms for 20 seconds before bench and calling it a warm-up?

I used to skip warm-ups completely… until my shoulder snapped back at me. Rotator cuff pain taught me a hard lesson.

My warm-up legit takes longer than my lift sometimes. But I’ve been injury-free for 2 years, so I’m not complaining.

Resistance band pull-aparts before push days are non-negotiable for me. Makes my shoulders feel bulletproof.

I keep hearing about band pull-aparts… guess I should finally grab some bands.

Cardio isn’t a warm-up for heavy lifts. Five minutes on the treadmill doesn’t prep you for a 200 lb squat.

I run a few empty-bar sets until it feels like butter. Then I start adding plates.

I used to half-ass warm-ups too. Then my knees started screaming. Now I take mobility drills way more seriously.

Warm-ups get my head right as much as my body. It’s like flipping a mental switch for the session.

But don’t overdo it either. If your warm-up is 30 mins and you’re gassed before your first real set, you’re doing it wrong.
