Growing Glutes Without Burning Out
Growing Glutes Without Burning Out
I’m all about leg day, but lately it feels like I’m pushing my glutes past their limit. For the ladies here, how do you train hard enough for growth without overdoing it and killing recovery?

Honestly, less can be more. I used to crush glutes 4x a week, but when I dropped to 2 focused sessions with proper rest, my gains improved.

Focus on quality over quantity. Hip thrusts, RDLs and Bulgarian splits with progressive overload, then get out of the gym. Recovery is where magic happens.
Re: Growing Glutes Without Burning Out
Totally agree. I also make sure I’m hitting hammies and quads, so glutes aren’t taking all the load every session. Balance keeps them fresh.
Re: Growing Glutes Without Burning Out
Yeah, I think I’m guilty of hammering hip thrusts + squats in the same workout. Maybe I should spread things out.
Re: Growing Glutes Without Burning Out
Yup, glutes can only take so much. Try pairing glute-dominant moves with lighter accessories like band work instead of heavy compounds every single time.

What worked for me: 2 heavy sessions (thrusts/squats/hinges) and 1 pump day (bands, kickbacks, abductions). Keeps the volume high without burning out.

I love using RPE (rate of perceived exertion). If I’m constantly hitting failure, my glutes feel wrecked. Now I leave 1–2 reps in the tank and it’s been a game-changer.

Good point—I almost always go to failure. You might try leaving some gas in the tank next week.
