Biggest Diet Mistake You Made as a New Lifter?

Post by ChrisPP »

Mine was avoiding carbs because I thought they'd make me fat. Looking back, I had no energy in the gym and my progress was terrible. Curious what dumb nutrition mistakes everyone else made when they first started lifting.

Mine was thinking eating less automatically meant getting leaner. I was barely eating enough to recover from my workouts. No wonder I felt weak all the time. 😂

I used to think protein shakes were some kind of magic muscle-building potion. Didn't pay much attention to my actual meals. Took me a while to understand that the whole diet matters, not just the shakes.

Definitely not eating enough protein. I was hitting the gym hard every day but completely ignoring what I was putting on my plate. Learned that lesson the hard way.

Mine was cutting out all fats because I thought they'd make me gain body fat. Man, I had no clue how important healthy fats were. Nutrition is more than just counting calories.

I was constantly changing my diet based on whatever fitness influencer I watched that week. Keto one week, low carb the next. 😂 Wish I had just stuck with a balanced diet and been consistent.

Not eating enough overall was my biggest mistake. I'd finish a brutal workout, go home and barely eat anything. Then I'd wonder why my strength wasn't improving. You gotta fuel the work you're putting in.

For me, it was obsessing over clean eating. I thought one burger or pizza night would ruin all my progress. Eventually realized that consistency over time matters way more than eating perfectly every single day.

Haha, looks like a lot of us made the same mistakes when we first started! 😂 I definitely wish someone had explained nutrition properly back then. These days I'm more focused on balanced meals, enough protein and actually fueling my workouts. Makes a huge difference! 💪
