I think my bracing is hit and miss honestly. Sometimes I just grip and rip.

Slow down the setup then. Same breath and brace every single rep. Consistency in the setup is what keeps the back safe rep to rep.

To summarise for you: pump that fades and doesn't hurt is normal, sort your hydration and pre-salt, film your form to rule out hip shoot and bar drift, and brace properly every rep. Do all that and a back pump is just a sign you trained hard.

This is a brilliant rundown, thank you all. Hydration plus a proper brace is my first fix. Will report back after filming.

Please do. Nine times out of ten this is benign, but it's always worth ruling out the form stuff early rather than finding out the hard way.
