No matter how many new workout trends pop up on social media, there's always that one lift or exercise you refuse to skip. For me, it's the barbell squat. It's challenging, humbling, and I feel like it carries over into almost everything else I do in the gym.
If you had to keep only ONE exercise in your training program for the rest of your life, what would it be and why? Doesn't have to be the "best" exercise—just the one that's made the biggest difference for you.
Let's hear some real answers from people who actually train.
What's One Exercise You'll Never Remove From Your Program? 💪

Barbell squats. Nothing else builds my legs and overall strength like they do.

I'd keep pull-ups. Every time I stay consistent with them, my back gets wider, my grip gets stronger, and even my posture feels better. They're simple, but they're one of the hardest exercises to outgrow.

Incline dumbbell press. I switched from flat barbell bench a while ago because it feels much better on my shoulders. I've still made solid chest gains, and I don't finish every push day with aching joints anymore. It's one of those movements I actually look forward to doing every week.

Walking lunges. I hate every set, but the results are worth every painful step.

Deadlifts will always be my number one. There's something about pulling a heavy bar off the floor that no machine can replace. They challenge my grip, core, back, and legs all at once, and I always feel like I've earned my workout after a heavy deadlift session. Recovery takes longer, but for me it's absolutely worth it.

Chest-supported rows deserve way more attention. They've helped me build a thicker back without putting unnecessary stress on my lower back. I recover faster, my form stays cleaner, and I can focus entirely on squeezing every rep instead of worrying about fatigue from supporting the weight.
