The hunger surprised me, but not because it was unbearable every day. It was more that food is suddenly on your mind all the time. You start planning your next meal while you're still eating the current one.

Posing and presentation were huge for me. I had a decent physique but looked completely different once I learned how to stand, transition, and actually present the muscle. Judges can't score what you don't show.

The mental game is real. Some mornings you feel shredded and think you're ready, then the next day you look flat and convince yourself you've ruined the entire prep. Learning not to make emotional decisions based on one mirror check was probably my biggest lesson.

I think the biggest surprise is how much discipline happens outside the gym. Training is only a small part of the day. The real prep is getting your meals ready, hitting your steps, doing cardio, getting enough sleep, practicing posing, tracking your progress, and repeating that routine when nobody is watching.
