Protein Meal Prep That Actually Works for Busy Lifters

Post by FitRay$47 »

I’m trying to get more consistent with my diet while lifting 5 days a week. I want to build muscle without letting my calories get completely out of control, but I also don’t want meal prep to take over my life.
Right now I’m mostly eating chicken, lean beef, eggs, Greek yogurt, rice, potatoes, oats, fruit, and vegetables. I usually prep a few meals at once and keep the rest flexible.
What are your favorite high-protein meals that are realistic for busy gym-goers?

Chicken burrito bowls. Easy, cheap, and I never get tired of them.

I make turkey and egg breakfast wraps on Sunday and freeze them. Just microwave one before work and I’m good to go.

I like the freezer idea. I usually prep everything for three days because I don’t enjoy eating food that has been sitting in the fridge all week. I might start freezing some portions instead of cooking every couple of days.

My easiest dinner is ground beef, potatoes, vegetables, and some salsa. Nothing fancy, but it gives me plenty of protein and carbs without requiring a complicated recipe.

Greek yogurt with berries, oats, and peanut butter is my go-to when I need something quick. It takes less than five minutes and works for breakfast or a post-workout meal.

Protein shakes are useful, but I’ve found that relying on them too much makes my diet boring. I try to get most of my protein from actual meals and use a shake when I’m short at the end of the day.

I do a big Sunday prep with grilled chicken, rice, roasted vegetables, and boiled eggs. Then I change the sauces and seasonings throughout the week. Same basic ingredients, completely different meals.

Overnight oats have been huge for me. Oats, Greek yogurt, milk, protein powder, chia seeds, and berries. I make three jars at once and grab one from the fridge before work.

I’m currently cutting, so I’ve been keeping meals pretty simple. Lean protein, a lot of vegetables, potatoes or rice around my workouts, and fruit for snacks. The biggest thing for me has been having food ready before I get hungry because that’s when I usually end up ordering something.
