I started 18 weeks out and it felt pretty manageable until the final month. That's when the hunger, extra cardio, posing practice, and general fatigue started adding up. Looking back, I'm glad I didn't try to squeeze the whole process into 10 or 12 weeks.

Don't forget to plan for posing. I made the mistake of treating it like an afterthought, and then realized pretty late that looking good in the gym doesn't automatically mean you know how to present your physique onstage.

I'd prioritize being genuinely ready over hitting an arbitrary prep timeline. A good coach can help you determine whether your current condition makes a certain show realistic, but nobody online can tell you that accurately from a generic number of weeks. Give yourself enough runway to make gradual changes, keep your training productive, practice posing, and still have the ability to adjust if progress isn't going according to plan.
