🎯 How Much Time Are You Giving Yourself to Get Stage-Ready This Year?

Post by Flex-F88 »

For everyone planning to compete in 2026, how much time are you actually giving yourself to get stage-ready? 🏆
I’m seeing a huge difference in how people approach prep. Some start 10–12 weeks out and push hard, while others prefer 4–6 months to slowly bring down body fat while keeping as much muscle and strength as possible. I’m leaning toward the longer approach this year because I’d rather arrive at the show feeling prepared than spend the final weeks trying to fix things that should’ve been handled earlier.
How far out are you starting, and what are you prioritizing first — diet, training, cardio, posing, or recovery? 💪

I’m giving myself about 20 weeks. Slow and steady feels much more manageable.

Around 16 weeks for me, although I’m keeping the first few weeks pretty conservative. I want to see how my body responds before making bigger changes to calories or cardio.

I started roughly five months out this time. Last prep was rushed and I spent the final month exhausted, hungry, and watching my lifts disappear. 😅 I’d rather sacrifice a little speed and keep my sanity this time.

I’m actually doing a six-month runway. That might sound long to some people, but I have a full-time job and don’t want bodybuilding to completely take over my life. The extra time lets me adjust my meals, steps, cardio, and training gradually instead of changing everything at once.

This is helpful because I was originally thinking about doing a shorter prep. After hearing everyone’s timelines, I’m starting to think giving myself more room would be smarter. I’d rather be slightly ahead of schedule than sitting six weeks out wondering if I can get everything done. 💯

About 18 weeks. I’m mainly focused on keeping my strength as stable as possible while slowly getting leaner.

I gave myself four months, but posing started immediately. Honestly, that was one of the best decisions I made because I realized pretty quickly that knowing the poses and actually looking good while holding them are two completely different things. 😂

I’m somewhere around five months out, but I’m not obsessing over the exact number of weeks. I’m watching the mirror, measurements, training performance, and overall recovery. If progress slows down, I’ll adjust; if everything is moving well, there’s no reason to panic and start adding unnecessary cardio just because the calendar says I should.
