Are Your Workouts Actually Making You Stronger, or Just More Tired? 💪

Post by FitRay$47 »

I’ve been thinking about this lately because I see so many different training styles at my gym. Some people lift heavy every session, some chase the pump, some mix strength with cardio, and others are focused almost entirely on conditioning.
I used to think the hardest workout was automatically the best workout. Now I’m starting to look at things differently.
If my squat technique is better, my working weights are slowly increasing, my conditioning improves, and I’m recovering well enough to train consistently, I’d call that progress.
Curious what everyone else thinks—what tells you that your training is actually working? 🔥

Honestly, my answer used to be soreness. Now it’s progression.

I track everything in my phone. If my reps or weight are slowly going up while my form stays clean, I know I’m headed in the right direction. 📈

I’ve been guilty of training way too hard for no reason. Every workout turned into a competition with myself, and eventually my recovery just sucked.

For me, it’s strength plus better movement. I don’t care if I leave the gym completely exhausted anymore.

Same here. I’m trying to stop treating exhaustion as the goal and start treating progress as the goal.

My biggest change this year was cutting back from six lifting days to four. Surprisingly, I’m stronger now because I’m actually recovering between sessions.

I started adding 10 minutes of mobility before lifting and noticed a difference almost immediately, especially with squats and overhead work.

Tracking workouts is underrated. I looked back at my old training and realized I had been using almost identical weights for months. 😅

I want my gym strength to carry over outside the gym too. Being able to move furniture, carry heavy groceries, hike, or play sports without feeling completely wrecked is a huge win for me.
