🏆 Would You Rather Arrive Slightly Ahead of Schedule or Push Hard at the End of Prep?

Post by AntLewis »

For contest prep, would you rather get stage-ready a little early and have some room to adjust, or push harder during the final few weeks to make sure you’re fully peeled for show day? 👀
There’s always that balance between getting lean enough, keeping muscle and strength, managing fatigue, and not making the final stretch miserable. Some competitors prefer having a little cushion, while others like to push hard right up until the show. What’s your approach? 💪🔥

Ahead of schedule, 100%. I don't want to be doing panic cardio two weeks before the show. 😅

I’d rather be slightly ahead. Having some breathing room means you can make smaller adjustments instead of completely changing your diet when you're already exhausted.

Push hard at the end for me. If I’m close to stage-ready, I want to bring the best conditioning possible when it actually matters. 🏆

Definitely ahead of schedule. Contest prep is already demanding enough without turning the final week into survival mode. 😂

I’m starting to lean toward getting ahead of schedule too. Last-minute changes sound rough, especially when strength and recovery are already taking a hit. I’d rather walk into peak week confident that the hard part is mostly done. 💯

A little ahead, no question. I’d rather have an extra week or two to make adjustments than realize I’m behind and start cutting everything aggressively.

I think it depends on the starting point. If someone begins prep already pretty lean, they might have more flexibility, but if they have a lot of fat to lose, trying to force everything into the final weeks seems like a bad strategy.

I used to think pushing harder at the end was the hardcore approach, but experience changed my mind. When calories are low, cardio is high, sleep gets harder, and you're still trying to train, there’s only so much more you can squeeze out without hurting performance or recovery. I’d rather arrive in good condition with some energy left.
