Ever Ignored a Small Pain That Turned Into a Bigger Problem?

Post by Fabigon »

A few months back I had a little ache in my shoulder that I kept brushing off because it wasn't bad enough to stop training. I figured it'd go away on its own, but it slowly got worse until I had to take a couple weeks off pressing altogether. Looking back, I definitely should've listened to my body sooner. Anybody else learn that lesson the hard way?

Yep, learned this one the hard way too. If something keeps nagging you for more than a few sessions, it’s usually worth backing off instead of trying to train through it.

Shoulder pain is sneaky as hell. You can still move decent weight, so you convince yourself it’s nothing… then one day that little ache turns into well, guess I’m not benching this week. 😂

I’ve gotten way better about distinguishing soreness from actual joint pain. Muscle soreness I can deal with. That sharp or weird pain around a joint? I’m shutting it down and figuring out what’s going on.

Same thing happened with my elbow. Kept adding volume because technically I could still train. Eventually it got bad enough that even grabbing dumbbells was annoying. Sometimes taking 3–4 lighter days saves you from taking 3–4 weeks off.

Exactly bro. That was basically my mistake. I kept thinking “it’s not THAT bad” until it became bad enough to mess with my whole training week. Definitely paying more attention to those little warning signs now.

Big one for anyone pushing heavy compounds. Ego says finish the workout, body says dude, chill. 😂 I’d rather lose one workout than lose a month.
