I’ve been focusing on recovery more than I used to. I’m not trying to destroy myself every workout anymore, and weirdly enough, I’m getting stronger faster because I’m actually fresh enough to perform when it matters.

Getting stronger at the smaller movements has helped my compounds too. Bringing up my triceps and upper back made a noticeable difference in my bench.

I stopped testing my max every few weeks. Now I spend most of my time doing quality working sets and only test when I’ve built up enough to make it worthwhile. My strength feels much more stable now.

That’s something I’m trying to learn too. I used to think a workout only counted if I left completely wrecked. Now I’d rather finish with solid reps and still have enough recovery to perform well next session.

Protein and overall calories have been huge for me. I was training hard while accidentally eating too little, so my strength basically stalled. Once I started fueling properly, the difference was pretty obvious.

Honestly, patience. I used to get frustrated if my numbers didn’t go up every week, but strength doesn’t always move in a straight line. Some weeks I add weight, some weeks I repeat the same load, and occasionally I have a bad session. I’m looking at the trend over several months now instead of judging myself based on one workout.
