For some people it’s warming up, for others it’s controlling the eccentric, keeping good form, managing fatigue, or simply knowing when to stop chasing a PR. If you could make every gym member adopt ONE injury-prevention habit, what would it be?

Injuries can take you out of the gym for weeks or even months, while a few smart habits can help keep you training consistently. I’ve started thinking of injury prevention as part of the workout itself—not something you only worry about after getting hurt.

Controlled reps have saved my joints more than anything.

Proper technique before heavier weight, no question. Once I stopped rushing my progression and started focusing on bracing, range of motion, and actually controlling the movement, my training became much more consistent.

This is a big one for me too. I used to think injury prevention was mostly about stretching and mobility, but I’ve realized that how you perform the actual lift matters just as much. If the weight is forcing your form to fall apart, it’s probably time to adjust.

I’d put recovery right up there. You can have perfect form, but if you’re constantly training exhausted, sleeping five hours, and ignoring little aches because you’re scared of missing a workout, eventually something is probably going to give.

Never skip the warm-up just because you’re running late.

Managing fatigue is underrated. Sometimes dropping the weight and getting clean reps is actually the stronger decision, especially when your performance and technique are clearly going downhill.
