What’s the most challenging part of competition prep for women, and how do you overcome it?
Re: 🏆👙 Competitions for Women: Are You Ready?
For me, it’s peak week and the mental pressure.
The last few days before the show are brutal—carb depletion, water cuts, and constantly second-guessing whether you look “ready.” I try to remind myself that the work is already done and avoid unnecessary last-minute changes.

Yes! The hardest part for me was learning to pose properly.
Posing makes or breaks your presentation, and I had to practice for weeks before it felt natural. I record myself, adjust my angles, and get feedback from experienced competitors.

I compete in Bikini, and for me, the challenge is keeping my muscle tone without looking too lean. The judges want a balanced, aesthetic look, so I focus on glutes, shoulders, and a small waist while keeping a feminine shape. Anyone have tips on this?

Not a competitor, but I’ve helped train a few. Peak week is brutal—so many last-minute changes. But the key is staying patient and trusting the process! Also, hydration plays a huge role in how your muscles pop on stage.

From a coaching perspective, I’ve noticed a lot of first-time competitors overtrain and under-eat. You don’t want to look flat on stage! Strategic refeeds are a game-changer—don’t be afraid of carbs when used correctly.

How do you all handle post-show recovery? I’ve seen some competitors struggle with binge eating or losing motivation after a show.
Re: 🏆👙 Competitions for Women: Are You Ready?
@MasonTaylor, SO true! Post-show blues are real. I avoid crash dieting or rebounding by slowly increasing calories instead of going all out. Also, I set new goals—whether it’s a photoshoot, another show, or strength-based training. Keeps me focused!

What’s the biggest difference between Bikini, Figure, and Physique in terms of training? I know each category has different criteria, but how do you adjust workouts for each?
