Cheat Meals — Boost or Backfire?

Post by Bendk66 »

I’ve been sticking to my plan all week, but I usually let myself have one cheat meal to stay sane. Lately I’m wondering though… does that cheat help me stay on track or is it just setting me back? Curious how you guys handle it.

One cheat meal a week won’t kill your gains, bro. If anything, it keeps you mentally locked in. I smash a burger on Sundays and keep leaning out.

Cheat meals help refill glycogen too if you’re in a big deficit. I actually look stronger in the gym the next day.

That’s good to hear. I was worried I was undoing a whole week of clean eating with one big meal.

Honestly depends on what you’re eating. A pizza with 4k calories? That’s rough. But a burger and fries? No big deal if the rest of your week is clean.

Cheat meals save me from binge eating later. Knowing I’ve got one coming makes me sick to my plan harder.

I call mine “refeed days” instead of cheats. Still controlled, just higher carbs. Helps me stay lean without going nuts.

I like that idea of calling it a refeed instead. Makes it sound less like I’m “messing up” and more like part of the plan.

Cheat meals can backfire if you don’t control portions. I’ve had a “cheat” turn into a cheat weekend before 😅

If you’re hitting macros overall, you’re fine. The problem is when people use cheat meals as an excuse to go all out with zero tracking.
